Edit: I realize this trade really really hurts their left side Defense I would take out Bjornfot and with Mathews only having 3 years left I replace Byfield with Turcotte. You can add another player maybe Faber Or ****emo but I don’t trade Byfield for 3 years of Mathews.

Sorry dudes, it's just bad luck losing Tavares and Muzz. Would have been a completely different series. The Kings would be crazy not to take Matthews, but I believe Dubas would keep Matthews but maybe Marner or Nylander could happen.

I agree with you. I just think it’s funny that certain leaf fans on here always say that the oilers are wasting mcdavids career when the leafs are doing no better with Matthews, whom those fans say is better then McDavid

And what if the Leafs do nothing up to when Matthews is a UFA, do you really think he stays there? Not a chance, he bales faster then McDavid can skate!

I mean I get it, it's definitely possible he moves on after three years. But this is the window for the leafs, Dubas has leveraged everything for this window of the next few years, no rebuilding, it sucks you guys got bounced in the first round but this team is good and just got unlucky, move Marner or Nylander maybe as a message to the team but can't do Matthews not when you guys have the best-assembled team in years.
