My Overreaction to the Leafs

Created by: jmac490
Team: 2021-22 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: May 30, 2021
Published: May 31, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
If Game 7 is lost to the Habs, the Leafs organization needs to apologize to Simmonds, Thornton, Foligno, and most importantly Spezza for botching an ideal run in the playoffs. Matthews and Marner need to support whatever charity these guys want for at least 1M each. M and M have been brutal.

Move one of Marner/Matthews. If they can't get it done in the playoffs, then I don't see a future with them on the Leafs. On average Matthews gets 5 pts/series, whereas Mitch is good for 4 pts/series.

Let Freddie walk, and move Rielly to another team.

From a quick glance at DailyFaceoff, teams that need a high skill LHD are Calgary (To complete Gio, and to play with Andersson), LA (To play with Doughty, as they don't have the depth), and potentially the Capitals, as they do not have the proper speed in their lineup to make them a natural threat.

1st line = Most effective line from seasons prior to 2020/21
2nd line = Speed and skill
3rd line = Shutdown line and Playoff experience
4th line = Grumpy Old men line 2.0, with Getzlaf taking the role of Thornton

1st Pair = Ol' Reliable
2nd Pair = Rielly-Brodie 2.0
3rd pair = Guidance

Goalie Tandem = Happiness incarnate

Flames aren't trading Mangiapane. He is basically a younger Hyman. Also WE DO NOT NEED LEFT DEFENSE MEN WE HAVE ENOUGH

If Seattle takes Gio, we will desperately need a top 4 LD

Ah yes, the rocket richard winner for a heavily declining Monahan and a defensemen that sucks at defense + two firsts. Awful trade man, Toronto HARD NO

Valimaki wasn't ready for being a full-time 3rd pairing defensemen this year, he needs more time before you throw him to the wolves.

Flames very very easily decline that trade mangiapane is untouchable, and the flames have 0 need for left defense they have hanifin, valimaki, gio, Mackey, kylington, poirier, and kuznetsov

Right, I forgot a bad year (where the entire line was bad) and an injury = heavily declining, completely ignoring that Monahan was having a great year before the injury. Also, Andersson doesn't suck at defense, he was put in a role he wasn't ready for and struggled. But I wouldn't expect you to know anything about defense outside of defending your team through one laughable failure after another

You know when a defensemen finsinhed 11th worst in defence wins above replacement (https://twitter.com/JFreshHockey/status/1397282957933617155/photo/1) it means they are bad at defense. I'll admit in my frustration cause of the recent loss my wording is harsh, Monahan isn't heavily declining, but has been declining every year since 18-19, this year wasn't just an outlier, Monahan also is a defensive liability, Good on the powerplay at least (ours sucked at the end of the year). All in all this isn't near the amount needed to fetch Matthews

LMFAOOO man, the delusion. If you genuinely think that Andersson and Monahan are good defensively, you are a lost cause
