That being said, given that TOR is just EDM on steroids in terms of playoff pitifulness, they should keep clear of Marner. He adds nothing there but regular season scoring which EDM already is fairly settled in.

Still includes RNH. What's the point of TOR acquiring an UFA? It's not like EDM would re-sign the guy and THEN trade him.

Also I dunno why would McDavid need better playmaking when he himself literally is the best playmaker and driver on the planet. If anything he needs some experience, a goalscorer and physical presence. Marner brings 0/3 in these. This trade simply won't make them any better.
