Description
Ideally I'd like to dump Roussel and sign another forward like Armia, but I don't think that's possible with everything else.

I just think it’s too much cap tied up on your back end if you bring in rielly. Hughes, Myers, Schmidt, rielly = 25 million next season. That’s a lot of money for 4 guys who aren’t very good in their own end

I would look to dump Myers next season with Juolevi and a pick as a sweetner.

It's not a great defensive core, but it is a great two-way core.

Already paid a sweetener to unload Eriksson, plus a pick to acquire gourde, then another sweetener to unload Myers? It’s just too much for enough long term gain

I will agree with you though that I like this top 4 as a two way style. Great in transition and great in the o-zone. But in their own end I think they’ll get caved in again

Yea cumulatively it is a lot, but I don't think there's any other way to effectively turn the team around quickly which is the goal that management and ownership likely have. I would prefer to pay to move a guy rather than buy him out.

I don't think it would end up being a lot. We have Hughes - Reilly - Rathbone as our LD pretty set, so Juolevi wouldn't have much of an opportunity anyway. I think we'd be losing less relative to his trade value. A pick would be worth it if we could bring in a forward like Palat, Smith, etc. in free agency next year.

I Vancouver has interest in Rielly, I move him on draft day for that package. Frees up cap, gives Sandin a lot, and gives Toronto the change to draft one of McTavish or Wallstedt

Canucks should eat last year of eriksson at this point and give a sweetener to seattle to take myers and use another asset to acquire another cheaper expansion eligible dman.

Those are great ideas, but that would be essentially a gap year with no significant improvements. Management/ownership made it clear they will try to be aggressive this offseason to put the best possible team on the ice next season.
