If the Ducks trade either of those players it would be for futures, not a pending UFA and a bottom pairing Dman that might become a second pair Dman

So, needing scoring help at forward and quality at RD, we're going to trade 5 years of Fowler for one year of Rielly and one year of our best right-handed forward for however many years of Dermott he manages to stay in the top trio with Lindholm and Fleury? I don't think so.

I'll bet Blake Coleman gets twice that, in both money and term.

Just having some fun with it, my thoughts are:

When does your competitive window open? 3 years maybe? so you actually looking at 2-3 years of a 32-33 year old Fowler and Reilly could be flipped for good futures
Rakell is a rental and bringing in a 23 year old NHL defensemen with team control has quite a bit of value

As for Coleman, you may be right but I think that depends where he wants to play. It will be tough for him to get term and dollars from a contender in the second year of a flat cap.

Not saying the Leafs are a contender from what I saw this year and MTL would have the cap space.... so who knows.

In my opinion, the idea of moving Fowler and then flipping Rielly for futures isn't going to end up with anybody the equal of a 33-year-old Fowler.

I think that Edmonton and Dallas, among others, are going to go hard after Coleman. Maybe Colorado, if they lose Saad or God forbid Landeskog.

I think that draft day will shake a lot of this out.
