Fantasy Offseason

Description
Yeah, yeah, I know. The Leafs are involved so every team says no.

Don't take it too seriously, just messing around with trades and contracts. Most trades aren't even complete, there were meant to be picks and prospects flying around but I was just sticking with the pillars of each deal.

Devils give Wood, Zacha and 2nd pick (to retain on Subban, who isn't in deal) for one-year of Rielly and 2nd, 3rd?
So from 2022-23 perspective....we give up Wood, Zacha and 2nd....for a 3rd?
And why are sending a pick to retain on Subban when he isn't in deal?
And why would selling team be paying for retention anyway?

Whatever this is....Devils want nothing to do with it.

If Leafs want Wood, Zacha, Subban, etc...give us picks, prospects or young players, preferably D-men (not named Dermott)
Devil liked this.

Fantasy is correct. Why would we trade the younger player and 36th overall for Muzzin. Lol

Just to answer the "(to retain on Subban, who isn't in deal)" part, that's because the site doesn't let you double-retain. So I had to create him as a custom player at the double-retained price. So, he's in the deal but I had to do a workaround so he wouldn't show up on the roster at $4.5M.

As I mentioned in the description, this was just a template to see how contracts would work and whatnot. If the Leafs wanted those players (which... I mean... they should) I expect to see names like Liljegren passed around-- which I'm not 100% sure I'd want to do but it's the starting point. I was just getting contracts in and out though, I wasn't really trying to make deals.

That's simple. He's an upgrade on Hague for a team that (A) doesn't have to worry about expansion, and (B) has a window about as long as Pietroangelo stays elite and healthy. Is it likely? No. Muzzin's not leaving Toronto. And not for Hague, who is a solid D and going to be really good in a very similar way to Muzzin, but he's not there right now and BOTH teams are trying to compete (to varying levels of success). Though-- originally my idea was Morgan Rielly for Hague+ but Muzz had more years left within their window at a respectable cap hit (whereas Mo is going to get 6+ in the next off-season)

But even better than that is just keeping both. Hague is playing good as a 3rd pairing. You hope he takes that next step next year if we can’t bring back Martinez cheap. He’s far from a liability and we have him under control for another 4 years. It’s just not a big enough upgrade to negate the potential of not only Hague but whoever that 36th pick is
