The only good thing in that trade is Marner, And why would the Preds trade Captian Josi for a Morgan Riley who struggles with turnovers and has an expiring contract? I just don't see the preds trading Josi even for Marner, And if Marner is so good why do Leaf fans wanna trade him so bad?? Something doesn't add up, Plus Marner has a big contract and adding the 1st and Liljegren helps woth taking that contract but I don't see the preds trading Josi

You mean an overpaid winger that can't perform in the playoffs, a defenseman with one year left, a defensive prospect that hasn't cracked the NHL yet, a late first for a top defenseman that just won the Norris last year and is the captain of the team and a winger on a great contract?

top pair defensemen CURRENTLY thats already 31 with 6 more years at over 9 mill a season. How long do you think that lasts for?
Winger on a reasonable contract who doesn't score anymore (and i like Arvi) - he scored less than .5 pts/per game last two seasons. $4.25 for 40 points?

Cant only point out flaws in half of the equation.
Marner was top 5 in scoring this season and is only 24. Time to figure it out.
Rielly could easily resign or just let him walk and have cap flexibilty.
Lijlegren is a prospect. They havent made it into the NHL thats the point. Remember Drouin for Sergachev? He was a prospect then too (not a totally fair example but still).
and you still get a first rounder to potentially select a solid player.

This is fun!

Josi has shown no signs of slowing down and is their captain. There's no chance he gets moved. (He has a NMC too)
Who does Arvidsson have on his line? He would produce much more playing next to Tavares.

What makes you think Marner can keep up that same scoring pace and figure out his playoff issues in Nashville without Matthews?
Good chance Rielly walks which makes the trade even worse for Nashville
Lijegren hasn't been able to make the NHL in almost 4 years. He won't be able in Nashville with Ellis, Fabbro, and more on the right side

You cant trade someone based on what they MIGHT do in their next spot. Arvi just as easily could be done and washed and then who wins the trade, right?
And for a team that barely made the playoffs, you sure seem to highly value the pieces. Cant be empirically bad and still think they are worth a lot.
Why wouldnt Josi go? Hes a lot closer to winning in TO than he is in Nash. He would be a hero there if he won
