2022 Improvement through FA

Team: 2021-22 Edmonton Oilers
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 1, 2021

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Holland has shown he is resistant to trading picks and prospects for established players so I see them using free agency to fill in roster. Same logic applies to Seattle, price to take contracts will be above what Holland wants to pay.

Trading Jones to prevent Seattle from taking him is possible as other AGM's suggest but why would any team surrender assets before expansion to acquire a player they can't protect either?

Saad - Seems like the perfect fit for them. Responsible and can bury on set ups. Term is key, no more than 4 years.

Danault - Probably an overpay but another perfect fit taking defensive pressure off of McJesus and Drai. Can run a shut down line which Edmonton sorely lacks.

Reilly - Easy 1 year deal at a higher number to cover for Klefbom until he hopefully returns.

Driedger - Him and Ullmark are the top goalie targets I believe and Ullmark has longer track record which will get him the higher number. Might price out of Holland's comfortable area so went with Driedger who should still be a great 1A/1B.

No Barrie seems to be a common thread (correct me if I'm wrong Oiler fans). From the outside Larsson's inevitable signing seems to be the end for Barrie. He'll need a big contract and Bouchard needs PP time and real minutes instead being the 4th right handed d-man.

Still need another top 6 LW as Kahun was a bust in the top 6 this yr
To much for Yamamoto he’ll get the same bridge deal as Bear did 2X2 if the number is closer to 3 mil then it’s a 3 yr deal or longer
McLeod will be staying at centre most likely as the 4th line centre to start the yr
I see Smith getting the same 1 yr deal as last yr 1.5 with 1 mil in performance bonuses
I think Holland brings back Haas over signing Filppula

Can agree with most of those. Only one might be Yamamoto. Maybe he signs for less with better negotiating but his closest comparables are Lindblom and Kase who are at 3.0 and 2.6.
Isn't a great market for 1 year reclamations so I just went with Kahun. I would target Coleman if he would come to Edm but he reeks overpayment from someone

I think Yamamoto took a step back this yr and I think this yrs rendition of Yamamoto is closer to the Yamamoto in yr one when he scored at near a point per game, he really needs to put the work in this offseason in shooting the puck and more importantly working on one timers his shot isn’t that great to start with so stopping the puck before he shoots, he’s not beating many goalies like that, I’m still on the fence with him, is he a top 6 winger or a third line energy guy that kills penalties and second power play time, I think 2 yrs at 2mil is a fair and safe bet for the oilers.
