Yeah he's had a nice playoffs. But he was pretty crappy before that 34 games...

I am probably baileys biggest critic and he is overpaid, but lets not act like his contract is an albatross. He's a 50 pt winger making 5 mill.

i was wrong it was 31 in 34 Playoff games, but 37 points in his last 42 playoff games, and if you wanna go further back, you act like this whole team wasn't pretty crappy before trotz

Bailey looks slow at times but $/Point is probably comparable to the guys who make 9-10 million a year

You love Eberle, but I just don't see it. He's definitely top 6, and he's been at a consistent 20+ goal pace throughout his career. just feels meh to me.

I like eberle for the same reason I was a big fan of toews. They quietly have elite impacts.

Bailey is a talented passer but he literally brings nothing else - using only points to evaluate a player is flawed IMO

Damn, i guess i under appreciate him. Feel like i noticed Toews a lot more though. Think eberle would be a lot better if he played on a line where he could possess the puck more, could be 1000% wrong though

The guy had more 5v5 goals than Crosby , Draisaitl, Tavares ,and guentzel. He generates more high danger scoring chances than 97% of NHL forwards. I value forwards who can drive play at a high level, not complmetary players like lee and Bailey who need other players to be successful. You're actually right that Eberle does better where he can possess the puck more, if you remember he singlehandedly got the nelson line going earlier in the season. But Barzal+Eberle were one of the best forward duos in the league this season.

Eberle + Barzal : 65% HDCF%

Eberle without Barzal: 58% HDCF%

Barzal without Eberle: 52% HDCF%

seems like Barzal needs eberle a lot more than eberle needs barzal...

I didn't realize you were referencing playoff games. I thought you just meant his last 34 games. He had a pretty meh regular season

I think I'm guilty of judging him against his 2018 season where he seemed to have so much to give and never lives up to it. You're right he's fine

The 17-18 season? That’s when he played with Tavares in a run and gun system
BCAPP liked this.

Yikes.
Id be interested to see who barzals with when hes not with ebs though cause i know eberle was with MDC and Nelson and i actually really liked that line.

Barzal was with lee and bailey. Eberle does things that aren’t flashy but are undervalued, like making subtle plays in the ozone to maintain possession , he’s good at finding soft spots in the ozone, great in transition. The thing is even his basic stats are great aside from his underlying numbers, I still haven’t heard a good argument why he’s not a top line winger. I’m open to changing my mind if there’s evidence to suggest he isn’t, but there’s none out there
