Team: 2016-17 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Jan. 27, 2017
Published: Jan. 27, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
TBL
  1. Pavelec, Ondrej
  2. Trouba, Jacob
  3. 2017 4th round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Tampa solidifies their blue line behind Hedman and Stralman. Trouba also provides them with a good puck mover in the right side. The lightning aren't risking losing another D in the expansion draft either, as Vegas will have a lot more interest in a young forward like Namestnikov than a defenseman like Sustr or Garrison. They also get a veteran packup in Pavelec, both to help even out salaries and to back up Vasilevskiy.
WPG
  1. Bishop, Ben
  2. Koekkoek, Slater
Additional Details:
Winnipeg finally finds a solution between the pipes with Bishop. The also get get a young LD to add to their blue line. A change of scenery might help Koekkoek's development.

No it's not, How does Bishop help a team that's more or less trending water right now. No way will Bish agree to go to Winnipeg.

A pending UFA in Bishop to Winnipeg yeah that team isn't a contender this year with or without Bishop, No way does Chevy trade Trouba for this it's pretty bad for Winnipeg.

Yeah, Jets should for sure trade Trouba for a UFA that they can't even extend without then losing Hellebuyck in the expansion draft and a prospect that can't crack an NHL lineout. Although, since Vegas would probably pick Helle it wouldn't matter that Koekkoek is eligible for the expansion draft.

In a Trouba trade it would be someone like Drouin coming back, if the Jets were interested in forwards at all for Trouba. (Which at this time they're not.)

Winnipeg has a very talented roster that's being held back by bad goaltending. Not only do they boast young stars like Laine, Schieffle, and Ehlers, but they also have prospects like Petan, Connor, and Stanley, and vets like Byfuglien, Wheeler, and Little. Bishop gives them a really good starting goaltender for the next several years while hey draw on a position of strength (RD) to fill that hole.
