There’s pros and cons for both teams with this trade.

I would say yes for PIT and no for FLA. I know PIT is in a win now mode still with Crosby/ Malkin. Rust has a nice cap hit and good chemistry there. But he is a ufa next season and PIT could benefit from stocking up on assets. I would take the trade and see if I could replace him in free agency but that easier said than done haha.

On FLA side I can see the value of having him the lineup as Rust plays with grit and produce. But I think a first and third plus a sixth maybe a bit too much. They don’t have a lot of cap space and have a few other issues/ things they may need to use those assets to address.

fair maybe a 1st and a depth player would make it good for both sides
