<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>villenash</b></div><div>I agree that it's an interesting idea -- I just think NSH will hold on to Glass a little longer; pretty much gave up Ellis for him. I'm hoping Johansen can show him the ropes a bit, but we'll see if he gets another chance this season.

I'm not opposed to DeBrusk in NSH, but at this point in his career I'm not sure I would offer up much more than a 3rd rounder with a C prospect

As far as NSH being buyers, I'd rather they go after someone like Smith who could be a cap casualty with VGK which could lower his cost -- or someone like Tierney.

For the long-term, NSH has Tolvanen, Tomasino, Duchene, Trenin, Jeannot, and Kunin as pretty much locks on the wings next season. If they sign Forsberg and/or then bring up some guys like Afanasyev, L'Heureux, Olivier, Glass, etc to battle for spots, it gets harder to see where DeBrusk would fit on this team.</div></div>

All good points. I really like Nashville pool of prospect and that was why I think Nashville/ Boston could be good trade partners. I guess it just depends on how Nashville views this season. Prospect are great but they can be years away. Nashville has drafted really well as of late and maybe they want a slower build but I think Nashville might want to build off their strong.

Smith a good player and probably would be more expensive to trade for. I think trade within in the conference are hard to pull. Vegas and Nashville might end up battling it out for the last playoff spot. East to west trades seem to be easier/ more comfortable for GMs.

Sorry but I think your under valuing Debrusk if you think a 3rd plus a C prospect is fair. That’s not enough upside for a player that has/ can 20 goals. Guess it depends on the prospect.

A similar trade I think could be used for reference was a couple years back when the Bruins acquired forward Brett Connolly from the Tampa Bay Lightning for Boston's second-round picks in the 2015 and 2016 NHL Drafts. To me that would be the least I would accept for DeBrusk. I see similarities between what happened back then.

Thread: Run it back
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>Only issue i see is the term for carlo. 2 years takes him to UFA without buying out any UFA years. Bruins aren’t doing that.</div></div>

Yeah I can see them prefer that and it’s probably better assets management but I would be cautious with not giving Carlo too much term because of his injury history. If you go long term there a chance they’ll regret it. Two year would walk him to UFA but there’s a lot that could happen. Injuries keep preventing him from playing, he plays poorly, Boston wants to upgrade, etc. But if Carlo plays well and stays healthy and likes the organization it shouldn’t be to hard to sign him again. But it’s a risk.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bruins1054_gmb</b></div><div>Agreed. I think they look for a similar deal that Grzelcyk received. 4 years and around $4M, give or take $500K.</div></div>

Carlo when healthy probably deserves that contract but I’m not sure you can give it to him after this season. The injuries aren’t his fault but are a factor that need to be considered. Just depends if they want to bet on him or not.

The $10 M in cap space is with Rask on LTIR and knowing some of the contracts need to be adjusted. I think it’s more likely closer to $6 M when Rask is back in the lineup. Again I’m not say Boston shouldn’t look to upgrade and make trades if the right opportunity presents itself. But going into the season with cap space is typically a good thing and Boston could really use it during the trade deadline if they have needs to address. Look at the Hall trade, Boston was able to make that trade happen in part because of their space and didn’t require a third team like a lot of other trades.

Boston could decide to go all in and trade picks/ younger player. But it’s a huge gamble that may not work. Every season there’s only one team that’s made all the right moves and it the cup winner. I like splash move but Boston has been burnt a few time and needs to manage assets better. And we have seen how injuries can derail any team.

Look at Toronto, they have four players taking up most of their cap space. One year they trade their first rounder to get rid of Marleau contract. This season they traded their first for Foligno and he got hurt as well. Going in every year and moving picks will caught up. And just because on paper it’s an upgrade doesn’t mean success will follow.

Right now Boston at a crossroad as an organization. I actually like their position as I think the window is open a bit longer then others may believe. Beside Coyle they don’t have a ton of bad contracts and I hope he can play like he did when he first got here. McAvoy and Pastnrak future contracts worry me as I hope they stick with the team approach rather than go after a large payday. But I understand if they want their full value. If they can stay healthy and everyone plays to their standard I think they are still a top 5 team in the league.

Either way hopefully Sweeney can work his magic and have strong off season. But I like the roster I have outlined and would like to see how it preformed. But hey if they can add McDavid (or another top player) then go for it 😂

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bobcaygeon97</b></div><div>That's not an endorsement of the player but an indictment of the Edmonton Oilers LW issues. On good teams versatility is a key to success, guys that can play up &amp; down your line up.

DeBrusk is not a top 6 player, you can go down swinging he is, it wont make him one. His average is 33.5 points per year. 33 points....That's a 3rd liner.

It's all academic anyways, DeBrusk has a debilitating contract the will make moving him difficult for Boston and makes teams extremely wary of trading assets to a player who's qualifying offer will be 4.9 Million dollars......

DeBrusk is NOT a 5 million dollar player. Full Stop, trading any asset at this time if your any other team then Boston is lunacy! Unless it's a trade and signing of an extension that will lower DeBrusks AVV is stupid.</div></div>

I don’t think we are going to agree and there are a ton of posts/ discussions on DeBrusk’s value.

The point I’m arguing on his value is that it’s more likely to improve then get worse. DeBrusk may not be a 5 million dollar player currently but any team trading for him has to be thinking he’ll bounce back and produce higher numbers. Like a lot trades in the league it’s not all about what that player has done but will do for their roster.

The argument that Debrusk will never produce more than 30 points or so is crazy to me. Using Edmonton as the example of a team trading for him, I find it very unlikely he would only put up 30 points there. For fun let’s say playing with Connor and/ Leon is it likely he’ll produce 50+ points? And maybe he has good chemistry, plays in multiple roles and a bit of success in the playoffs. So if that happened would he not be worth 5 million?

That’s my issue with just using DeBrusk current production to determine his value on the market. So many trades being discussed have next to no value for Boston and just the potential to make them look terrible. Like the original idea (Debrusk+3rd for Bear) and I have seen worst offers. A good trade needs to have a bit more balance in value.

I hope Boston doesn’t trade him actually but if they do it’s got to be for something of value that offers them a chance to “win” the trade as well. I still view him as having potential and room to grow.

Thread: An idea
Rask heathy is a top ten goalie in the league but if he wants to win in Boston then I hope he take a team friendly deal. I think under 4 million would be what I hope for in a new deal.

I like Vlader size and he has a bit more experience at the pro level. He was called up first this season and played well early on then Swayman came up. Swayman stole the headlines but Vlader has a good chance of being an nhl level goalie. Swayman played well in most games but you could see he was still pretty green. I think Boston would be better to take a bit longer approach with him like they did with Rask years ago.

I would only consider take on Mikko to get more value out of a deal for Debrusk. There are some good options just depends on Boston’s plan.

Smith&gt; great goalie but pass his time/ not likely to leave Edmonton
Rinne &gt; a good veteran that may have one more run in him
Raanta &gt; not the most consistent goalie
Dubnyk &gt; very hot and cold. Not high on my list
Halak &gt; I think he’ll explore other options where he’ll be the backup at least with no questions marks. But maybe he and his family love the city so they stay
Rittich &gt; probably wouldn’t be the best mentor for Swayman/ Vlader.
Mrazek &gt; will have multiple options and will probably want term. One of the more proven goalie on the market
Ullmark &gt; probably wouldn’t be able to handle a large workload so Swayman/ Vlader would definitely get their time in the crease. I know Boston added Hall and it worked out fine but I think adding Sabres in general is not a recipe for success lol
Andersen &gt; is the top ufa goalie available. I would like him on a prove it deal and him in the starting role if Rask doesn’t return. It would be hilarious if Boston met Toronto in the playoff next year and he steals the series haha

I don’t think Boston needs to go crazy this off season and should be smart about potential moves. I hope Krecji returns and value wise around 4 million. But there will be a demand for him on the open market. Hall as well but I would not give him more than Marchand. I agree about Kase. I feel for him and hope he can get his career back. Such bad luck

The backend is a big question mark still. I didn’t love Reilly as much, I was hoping for more of an impact. He skates and passes well but he never really looked overly dangerous. I would prefer Boston looks for an upgrade or taking a chance on another player.

I’m a bit concerned about Carlo and his injury history. As long as his contract not crazy I’ll take him any day but if he’s asking for too much Boston maybe better suited trading him.

Ahcan is a bit undersized. But if he can chip in a few goals at the nhl level I would give him a shot. The minor league dmen I’m most interested in is Lyle. But it would be nice if they’re both pushing for spots in the lineup. I think both start in the ahl next year and get a chance mostly due to injury.

I hope Seattle doesn’t pick Lauzon. Personally I see him as a good fit in Cassidy’s system and he has potential to really develop. Same with Clifton.

Overall I think there likely only one roster spot on the backend (if Boston doesn’t do a major shake up) and I think Boston should be looking at adding a power play quarterback.
