I like Dunn as a player but a first plus one of Boston’s better prospects is a bit too much (for me at least). I know the rumoured asking price was a first rounder but if I’m Boston it doesn’t make enough sense unless they’re betting against another team. Maybe Zbroil could be included.

Urho is still young and has potential. Plus he’s on a two way contract. It’s nice having him as an option next season if injuries strike the backend again or he steals a spot with a strong training camp.

I agree that St Louis definitely wins this trade, but it's something I could see the isles trying if they really want to go for it this year. New York gets the better older guy (Tarasenko>Eberle) and St Louis gets the better younger guy (Beauvillier>Thomas)

My thought process here is that I think multiple teams will come to the table offering a 1st for Dunn, considering that a dman Like Savard was able to fetch a 1st at the deadline. So whoever wants a young top 4 dman the most will have to overpay a little, and I personally see Boston as the team whos most likely to overpay for Dunn.

Both Eberle and Beauvillier are better than Tarasenko right now. Eberle was 11th among all wingers in 5v5 goals this season and Beauvillier has 35 points in his last 44 games dating back to the regular season and was their most clutch player during the playoffs. This trade likely makes the islanders significantly worse because its highly unlikely Tarasenko goes back to producing at an elite level.

Boston declines. Bit of an overpay. Your reasoning on the overpay is good. But that was Tampa. Tampa threw 1st rounders like they were touchdown passes. Or like Opera Winfrey. And YOU get a first round pick, and YOU get a first round pick!
