Dream top 6F

Created by: avsfan1985
Team: 2021-22 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 19, 2021
Published: Jun. 19, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Key aspects of the off season would be: 1. Makar signs a bridge deal that aligns with EJ, and Compher's contracts ending. Those contracts would be used to pay for larger deals for Mack and Makar. 2. Salary dumps on other forwards by the Avs to free up space for RNH and Hall. 3. Take a chance on the young prospects on the 3rd and 4th lines. If they are not ready, then use the draft picks that were picked up to acquire better players at the trade deadline, and send those players back down to the AHL. 4. Colorado uses term lengths to help reduce the cost per year, this will hurt at the end of those contracts, but it's a win now mentality.

Definitely could be true on the underpayment, I am likely a little too optimistic with how much of a difference an 8 year deal could make on guys that age. A couple of relevant contracts as references, Lehner at 5 years x 5 million and Jordan Binnington at 6 years x 6 million. I don't know, it might be possible to get Grubauer at 8 years x 5 million, but I could just be dreaming. The Landy one, yeah that's likely asking for a home team discount that may be a bit too much for him to stomache, maybe the 8 year deal is enough to make him accept it though. With regards to bridging Makar or not, if it makes the team better by doing so, then I think you do it. Unless Makar simply isn't open to it at all. There have been a number of rumours indicating that a bridge deal is being considered for Makar though.
