Description
After realizing that even if he waived his NMC, Girardi is untradeable, NYR convinces Staal to waive his NMC, puts the deal with COL in place, signs Shatty, and then finally executes the Staal trade. In the midst of a firesale, COL can afford Staal's contract and also acquires a decent prospect in Gropp.

    Need to move Staal or Girardi for cap space. Buying out Girardi doesn't yield enough, and Staal is slightly more tradeable. NYR moves up in the 3rd round, but gives up a prospect.
