you have the right idea when it comes to the ekholm trade, great job. right now nashville cant protect him and we are protecting Hajek. A deal to get ekholm would help both teams greatly. I would make that deal right now. I would let Nashville pick between robertson or jones. You can probably drop Gauther too. A 1st and a defensive prospect would probably get it done. Your D-pairings are spot on. Id pay to see that.

I agree Jones or Robertson plus a 1st for Ekholm is fair value but I had a Preds fan tell me they want a winger so I kinda just threw Gauthier in. I agree I’d be ecstatic if we could add Ekholm I think it’d be very beneficial for Nils to have a vet paired with him who’s solid on D, also doesn’t hurt that Ekholm is a fellow Swede.

Decent trades not sure I’d do Strome for Kadri but I could see why people mention it. Rather trade Strome to recoup some futures if we got a higher end center.

I don’t see why they wouldn’t be able to extend Ekholm. I know we have a lot of guys to pay but Ekholm is already 31 so I don’t know how much he’s gonna be realistically looking for in his new contract. Also this is just my assumption but the Schneider pick tells me they think they’re gonna be able to move the Trouba contract at some point

I’ve seen Chytil and 3rd for Hertl from an SJ fan on here and felt like that might not be enough, adding another 2nd and Georgiev I think makes up that value

Not sure where you saw that tbh but I get your viewpoint. Rangers fans on here have been doing Hertl for Chytil and a 1st as a foundation for weeks. At this point I wouldn’t take anything less to be quite honest.

Who are the rentals? Who are we letting go? There is no chance that the Rangers have the cap space to resign Zib, Fox, Hertl, Kadri, Ekholm, Kakko and Kravtsov.

Exactly the reason I don't like the Ekholm trade....only has 1 year under contract- then UFA. No way would I trade a 1st round pick (let alone 1st rounder +) for a player unless I have intent to extend him...and don't think this would be the case with Ekholm...unless there are also plans to trade either Miller or Lindgren I doubt they'd look to extend Ekholm- and at 31 this decision would be real questionable- especially since the Rangers have a conga line of prospects due for a chance on the left side. If none of the prospects are ready to take the leap- there will be no shortage of 1 year serviceable options to play 3LD for less than 1.5M.
