Quoting: ColonelX
Also the cap was at 64.3M$ ... Still think after this run he's breaking the bank.
The Montreal center position « during this run » :
Suzuki 17 gp 5 g 8 a 13 pts
Staal 16gp 2g 6a 8 pts
Kotkaniemi 16gp 5g 2a 7pts
Danault 17gp 0g 3a 3 pts
I don’t think Mikko’s stat line ever looked like that compared to his teammates. And the gap only projects to widen as Suzuki and KK gain more experience.
Danault can break the bank from his Boston Pizza sponsorship if he resigns with the Habs, but that’s about it. Bergevin isn’t dumb. Show me an elite goaltender, and I’ll show you a great « shutdown center. »
Any team with average goaltending looking to overpay Danault is going to regret it. You get paid to produce offense in the playoffs in this league (see JG Pageau). That’s not Danault.
He’s a good player, and $3.5mm is good money. Many posters on this site don’t understand that. But that’s fine, they’ll be educated as to the new reality in short order. Well, for those who wish to evolve, that is. I imagine that many won’t, and will instead cling to the past.
