I like the roster, though I wouldn't do the Couture deal. I have a feeling he bounces back with a great year next year given less responsibility to take on the top teams every night and a 3rd center, which thankfully the organization has seemed to identify too and will pursue.

Getting Larsson would be absolutely lights out for this team. Tatar too at that price. It's doubtful but hey Toffoli signed for a lot less than what everyone expected last offseason so there's a chance.

I'd be ecstatic if SEA takes Burns but it'd very likely take compensation from SJ to do so, and even then I'm not sure they do and/or SJ does. To me, SJ's offseason hopes of becoming a contender again rests on SEA taking Burns without SJ giving up a 1st or the equivalent of a 1st in value to SEA to make it happen.

Also, SJ probably doesn't need more LDmen and given that Vlasic was pretty decent the last 20ish games of the season we can just leave him be there on the bottom pairing and have Knyzhov stay with EK65. Most importantly, Sharks need that cap space to be able to afford extending Hertl and Ferraro the following season.

I feel ya. Personally, I see the Couture trade as short term pain for long term gain. Couture is the better player now, and is clutch in the playoffs, but later on his contract will be a burden. Kuzy’s contract ends sooner and with a new start, he could also bounce back to his old self.

Totally agree. With Tatar, I think getting scratched all playoffs will hurt his market value even though he’s still a very solid player analytically. So whoever signs him will be getting a potential steal.

Yeah agreed on this as well. The Burns option isn’t the most likely one but it is within the realm of possibilities (especially with compensation). Moving his cap would free up a lot of much needed cap space for us.

I see where you’re coming from but while I like Knyzhov, I still think Karlsson has to have a better, more skilled partner to have a chance at bouncing back. Merrill is one I deal with not signing, so we could replace Vlasic with him, but in my opinion McCabe is similar to Tatar in that he’s underrated and very solid for what he is.
