Do not give up the 19th overall pick just to dump James Neal. That's too much. Also, I wouldn't give Driedger 5 years, I would give him 3 just because how risky goalies can be. And instead of Savard, just bring back Adam Larsson, who is a very similar player but could sign for almost a million dollars less per year. Glendening isn't a good enough third line center and finally if Holloway is going to be in the lineup, he needs to be playing a significant amount of time. Same thing goes for Broberg, if they aren't going to play (or barely going to play) put them down in Bakersfield where they can play top line minutes.

I can agree with the rest as those are shots in the dark. You can I upgrade certain parts and area as I did leave cap space behind to do so. I disagree with the Neal contract and conception.

This my reasoning and hopefully it sheds some of my insight as to why I think it’s smart to trade your 1st this year. This years draft is probably the weakest draft since 2012 and has the potential to be even worse than 2012. The quality of prospects just isn’t there and the projection of top end talent is there. Unless the plan is to take a goalie at 19 which is reach as Sebastian Cossa is more of later 1st rounder and would be a reach at 19. That’s just my 2 cents as you’re in a win now mode and it makes zero sense to bank on futures rn when you have 2 top 10 players in the NHL on your roster.

I do want the Oilers to trade their first round pick but only if they can get something valuable in return for it.
