Trading their vezina goalie & a good young d man away for a mid round pick wouldn't be improving their team. They could just move out Ryan Reaves, Nick Holden, and Reilly Smith out for cap room.

Carolina gets Fleury 50%
Buffalo gets foegele for retaining half
