Sabres Deadline- Waiver and Trades

Created by: mikeyscav
Team: 2016-17 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 4, 2017
Published: Feb. 4, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Corrado will help many injuries to Sabres D. If all healthy, a group built like this results in 3 pairings that can be trusted.

Montreal could use cap space and moving DD helps with that. They get Foligno back to help in a Cup run but send Buffalo De La Rose back

Chicago gets a veteran winger for a the bottom-6 which is very young in Chicago. He is a captain of both Buffalo and Montreal so he will have a great stabilizing force to the youngsters along with their leaders in place. Also will supply good offensive depth as he is looking to have a 20+ goal campaign.

Makes the roster younger now while also keeping it competitive just in case ;)

Kulikov and Risto's pairing is troublesome since both can be aggressive. I'd much rather have McCabe stick with Risto and put Kulikov with Franson to add speed since Franson is slow as hell. I also think Gorges should be moved somehow. Maybe a trade with a contender looking for stable veteran defenseman in exchange for a draft pick. What do you think about that?

Gorges would be nice to move but I doubt it. I would keep him solely for purpose he fits requirements of the criteria for having one player that has certain amount of games completed in the NHL. Move him after expansion or bury him in AHL

Foligno is extremely inconsistent and will never be more than a bottom-6. Get another younger, cheaper bottom-6 option

Foligno has been great on the top line with Eichel and Reinhart, and leads the team with fighting majors. Tonight was a great example of why he's needed. He's the perfect compliment on that top line. 8 Goals, 15 points is more than i thought he'd have at this point. He's much better than the 2 youre trading for, thats why hes getting paid what he is. Some players are needed for intangibles other than point production.

Foligno can play the role he plays on a lower line, just not top. He had one hot streak this year and since then hasn't done much. Before flukey goal tonight, he was pointless in last 10. You need all guys on your top line being able to score
