Not even close for Garland, and wowzers that right side of the D-core is questionable at best.

Honestly that's fine, I probably underpaid for Garland a bit. But the right side of that D core is no different than last year. Everyone who watched the Leafs knows Muzzin carried Holl, and that any half-decent RD can play with Muzzin.

You left some cap space for the trade deadline fortunately - that is necessary to improve the D for the postseason.

The forward lineup would be an improvement to last year. But I don't think Garland and Granlund will sign with the Leafs - even there were many rumors before the trade deadline related to that.

Partly, partly. Yes, with Muzz you can add any half decent RD - but there are a lot more LD out there. The Leafs have their difficulties since years with the right defensive side.
Holl showed two faces. And he improved a lot compared to last year. His start was so great and surprising. He was for fun in the Norris conversation. And that had not only to do with Muzzin.

I don't disagree that Muzzin may have carried Holl, but assuming that he can carry Lilly is a dangerous assumption.

Garland-wise, he's an RFA...I don't see him making less than $4 mil though anyway. Rumor-wise, I could absolutely see the Leafs targetting him, but it'll cost more than a late 2nd and OK prospect to get him.

Honestly, if you move Holl, you're going to end up having to overpay for someone down the road. Keep him, then package him down the road if you're looking for an upgrade.

Some interesting ideas here.

I think you are low on Garland though. (Both acquisition price and AAV).

I don't even consider Liljegren an NHL'er at this point let alone a top four guy. Muzzin or no Muzzin.

I don't like the deployment of the lines much either but, I do like some of the signings. Yer on to something here for sure.

Concerning Liljegren: I am concerned if he is top 4 ready - but the 22 year old has to shoved into the cold water at some point. And at the beginning of a season with a healthy Muzzin is a better moment than during the post season with a back to back to back injured Muzz.
I would like to see his development - if it won't work, acquire another D at the deadline. If It will work: good for Toronto and the Cap Space.
