This is good value -- but If I'm NSH, I would retain on a contract like Jarnkrok's to try to get as much value as possible from a top contender looking for versatile forwards, but lacking adequate cap space. Jarnkrok would be an absolute steal if they retained 50% -- only a $1m cap hit.

You really don't want other Habs fans thoughts! Leaving a top 6 winger unprotected in the ED is stupid. Sorry to be so blunt but there are teams out there that will pay a mid to late 2nd for Drouin especially if it comes out that he needed a leave because of mental health issues as is being reported. It's most likely that if that is the case other GM's will see him as a valuable asset that just simply needs a less hostile media market to succeed especially since he has started the last 2 season playing well.

It seems we disagree on every Montreal related topic on this site.

So if Nashville retained 50 percent what would the return look like for Jarnkrok then?

2nd + b prospect or additional pick. If there is enough interest, it'd be sweet to get a late 1st -- but I doubt it at this point, maybe if he were dealt at this past deadline. I wonder if his value will be the most as a summer trade or deadline deal though.

The LA trade I think would probably be the most Nashville would get back, Ardvisson is the better player, but Jarnkrok has the better and more movable contract, so it balances out.

I wouldn't say every topic lol. I imagine we both want the team to take the next steps and that Drouin is possibly looking to be moved. Where we disagree is on his value, but we all have our opinions, neither being more right than the other really as there is more than one way to skin a cat (or move Drouin LOL). I apologize for saying that leaving him unprotected was stupid it just seems like such a waste of a good player when you could be getting assets back. I suggest he is worth a 2nd but even if his value is only a 3rd and a B prospect at least you are getting value back.
