I certainly wouldn't want it but, annoyingly, I could see Ottawa accepting this. Scandella played almost 20 minutes a game last season and while his salary is a little more than his cap hit, he's got size, which Ottawa values, and his 3 years remaining gives Sanderson a chance to play AHL if they want to bring him along slowly. There are aspects of it that would make sense BUT Ottawa could certainly do better with that money...

If he was right handed it might be okay, but we just have so many lefties that I can’t see it making sense even to the organization. I’d also hope they’re higher on Sanderson than that lol, he should be NHL ready by the end of the college season.

I don't disagree; Sanderson could easily step right into the NHL but is it the best choice? He has the potential to be a 1st pairing D man in 3 years, and it would absolutely suck to stunt that potential by rushing him. It's not a provable thing, but I believe Ceci's potential was decimated by being rushed. I also believe Chabot's learning curve would've benefitted greatly from a season in the AHL. The pace of NHL games (and the 82 game season) compared to juniors makes it a more difficult learning/teaching environment. Especially when you're thrown right into a top 4 role.
And, if Brannstrom is moved to the right side, where he's played most of his career, there's not much worth mentioning on the left side after Chabot.
One more thought - I fear OTT could look to move Chabot before the start of the 24-25 season if Sanderson is ready to takeover the 1st pairing. It would be in keeping with Melnyk's internal budget (Chabot's salary jumps to $10M in 24-25) and the return could also be quite tempting so long as it isn't entirely made up of futures. If this scenario were to become true I'd want Sanderson developed in a way that best guarantees he reaches his full potential.
