It's bridge deals for Petey and Hughes. Can't trade a 9th overall pick. Moves are made that should make the team competitive now, but are more about 2022-23 and a cup window for the duration of the bridge deals, and that's the sales pitch to Dougie Hamilton (along with 8 million big ones). Foegle, Miller, Appleton give line flexibility this year. I realize the trades for foegle & appleton might requre the use of a 2nd round pick. Other RFAs that are signed would be on 2-way contracts so not necessary to show here, but would be the injury call-ups (beyond the 13th F and 7th D included). Luongo, Eriksson, Beagle free up over 9 million next offseason, when accounting for the buyout carryover costs. Depth chart for 2022-23 allows players to settle into better suited roles (hello Appleton as a 4th line C) and looks something like:
