Description

1. Shed Long-Term Salary
We need to get rid of two of our big contracts this offseason. EK9 and Jones is the most likely with burns still being a possibility. I’m not opposed to taking on salary on a short term 1-2 years as we are gonna suck these next two years.

2. Build up the farm system.
We have the 7th pick. We have some assets to trade away I would love to see us take our C+/B- farm system to a A tier system.

3. Dont do something stupid at the expansion draft
Keep it simple. Don’t take a risk right now. Save that for picking a goalie in the top 10

4. Shop Hertl.
This does not mean sell him. If the price is right. Do it. But don’t sell low. This is has to be our NYR McDonanah trade. Gotta get as much value going forward as possible.

5. Sign a veteran center.
Some we can potentially play In place of hertl and then trade at the deadline for a decent pick.

It will be very tough. I still think we are before the point of no return. I think with some savvy moves we can expedite this process. And be in serious contention in 3 years.
