Also Zub was debatably our best all around Dman so why on earth would they expose him if they could? They protecting Brown or Zaitsev over him?

i didn't know that so idk who they would take zaitsev doesn't matter if he is protected or not they not taking him with that cap hit and brown is one of the most underrated players in the league is a top penalty killer

Brown is ok as a 6/7 D option, but he’s not some hidden gem that’s bursting with potential. Right now the locks to get protected on D are Chabot and Mete (Zub and Brännström are exempt), so unless they make a trade they probably protect Brown just because Zaitsevs contract is protection, and if he happens to get claimed it’s helping us out.

Also the expansion draft took on here is a great way to see who would be exempt or availible in the future.
