Konecny
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Claesson4Norris</b></div><div>Ottawa won't be moving Pinto. 20 goals as a rookie is nothing to sneeze at, and when you look at recent contracts signed by players in a similar zone (Cates 2.625×2, Newhook 4×2.9) he's in line to sign a very reasonable contract. Having a talented young 3C on a cheap deal will be huge for Ottawa, and that's without considering the upside of him as a top 6 talent in the future.</div></div>
I’m a Sens fan and love Pinto as a player, but I’d drive him to the airport myself if Konecny was coming the other way.
Greig can likely fill his spot at 3C going forward and would be even cheaper, and Konecny + Kubalik is an upgrade over DeBrincat.
Tkachuk - Stützle - Batherson
Konecny - Norris - Giroux
Kubalik - Greig - Joseph
That’s a strong top9

Dude, that DeBrincat trade to to Toronto is horrendous.
Brodie is 33 and has 1 year left on his deal and wouldn’t be resigned by the Sens, they have Sanderson/Chychrun contracts coming up. Samsonov is fine but goalies are rarely worth much in a trade to begin with. Also, why the hell is Ottawa giving up the better pick in the deal.
Why would Ottawa not just do that trade with Carolina lol? Why is Ottawa getting ripped off by the Leafs, only for the Leafs to flip him for a much better return?

Who is Lukas Sedlak and why are the Sens giving up a 4th for him?
He’s 29 and hasn’t played in the NHL for three seasons? What?

When did Justin Holl become worth a 2nd?
He’s a fine bottom pair Dman on an expiring contract. Probably a lot closer to a 4th in value.
Especially with the Leafs HAVING to clear cap space, nobody is paying all premium for Holl lol.

Take Hornqvist to get Weegar
Why does Ottawa do that deal?
Foegle makes 2.75M for 2 more years and would be below Formenton/Joseph on the depth chart. He’s a solid 4th liner, but that’s it.
Plus everyone knows Edmonton is trying to dump Barrie to get cap space. Ottawa doesn’t need a offensive RD that’s a liability on defence and only provides value on a pp.
Ottawa adds 7.25M in cap over the next 2 years, when they have Stützle/DeBrincat/Zub/Pinto due for raises next off-season.
Ottawa hangs up the phone.

Day Before FA Avs
I’ll be honest with ya man, that Ottawa trade is major ass.
Norris was 4th in Calder voting, and was the 1C and held his own against Matthews, McDavid, Scheifele etc. He looks to be a great 2C or solid 1A option.
Pinto has done nothing but exceed expectations, and looks to be an excellent 3C or good 2C. He was just a Hobey finalist this year, and in his brief NHL stint put up 7p in 12games
And Ottawa gives up the higher pick in this trade, as well as an extra pick.
In return the Sens get 1 year of 30 year old Kadri, Conpher who was out produced by Norris this year, and 1 year of Francouz.
Why on earth would the Sens do this? Their just starting to come out of a rebuild, and trading away 2 of their best prospects for old, declining short term assets?

Ottawa needs more to take on that Ladd contract.
5.5M for 2 years for an AHL player is horrible value, a 3rd and a fringe prospect aren’t enough

Oilers in a cuppa weeks
If Ottawa does this trade, they have approximately 103 goalies in the system. Last thing they need to add is another
Murray, Forsberg, Daccord, Gustavsson, Søgaard and Mandolese and now Koskinen? Where are half of these guys gonna play lol?

Blues off-season
Sens easily say no
Why on earth would they trade for Binnington (who has a 6x6 contract) when they have Murray at 6.25x3? Why would they spend 12.25M on goalies for the next 3 years?
And to get Binnington there giving up the goalie who played the best for them this year, and a 23 year old winger who just scored at a 50p pace in his first full season.
Hard pass

The Moves
Why does Ottawa do that trade? Peterka is a solid prospect, but he’s not better then whoever they could get at 10 (McTavish, Lysell, Johnson, Wallstedt). Plus Mete is more of a proven player then Bryson (199GP vs 38GP) and there the same age. Even if they’re similar value, this trade is saying 34th last year is worth 10th this year

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>rja40</b></div><div>Your argument makes sense if you're sold on Brannstrom. I'm not quite yet.</div></div>
Probably cuz your not a Sens fan and never watch him play. When Chabot was out the last 5 or so games, Brännström became the 1LD and was great. His offensive production is already better then Chabots was at the same age.

Sens say yes to that trade most likely. Tierney is a fine 3C still that’s good on the Pk but just can’t score a goal. Sharks would likely want more for Meier, unless I’m missing something on him
Only crappy thing is Meier is a winger, and that’s Ottawa’s biggest area of strength.

Brown is ok as a 6/7 D option, but he’s not some hidden gem that’s bursting with potential. Right now the locks to get protected on D are Chabot and Mete (Zub and Brännström are exempt), so unless they make a trade they probably protect Brown just because Zaitsevs contract is protection, and if he happens to get claimed it’s helping us out.
Also the expansion draft took on here is a great way to see who would be exempt or availible in the future.

Zub is exempt from the draft, so impossible for him to be taken
Also Zub was debatably our best all around Dman so why on earth would they expose him if they could? They protecting Brown or Zaitsev over him?

Making smart mooves
As fun as it would be to get Matthew, Ottawa’s strength is on the wings right now plus would cost a lot to acquire him.
Vegas isn’t gonna pay to get rid of Fleury, he just won the Vezina. He may be moved, but they’d be getting an asset in return, plus Högberg just signed in Sweden so he’s not an option anymore.
That Dadonov trade is bad. He’s signed for 2 more years at 5M AAV, while Johanson is 4 years at 8M. While Dadonov had a down year, Johanson has been rough for multiple years in a row. Makes no sense

Why on earth would the Sens trade Formenton for ANOTHER LD? And to add a 2nd?
Chabot is top LD, no question.
Brannstrom is 2nd LD
Sanderson, 5th overall pick, is gonna join after NCAA and he’s a LD.
Why would they get Dunn to play bottom pair LD?

Trade with our Rivals
Why would Ottawa do this trade? Makes no sense
Giving up a 1st round pick in last years draft who the org is very high on and plays the type of game every GM/coach loves, and Paul who has become a leader on the team and wore an A at the end of the year.
In return they get Toronto’s 25 year old 7th D that is already behind Chabot, Brännström and probably Mete (plus Sanderson coming after his year at NoDak) and an ok 2pair guy who struggles hard without Muzzin babysitting him.
