I like a lot of the ideas here, but I would have to believe that offer gets beat by someone else if Dvorak is available.

There is not a more overvalued player in professional sports than how Wild fans view Matt Dumba right now. Look at any comparable player to his performance in the last several years and the return they receive in a trade.

Devon Toews for instance, performed better than Dumba last season, had RFA status, and was a year away from being in consideration for expansion draft issues, and costed 2 2nds. A player literally more valuable than Dumba in nearly every capacity went for 2 2nd round picks. How a guy who has a worse recent performance record and a far worse contract situation is worth way more is unimaginable to me

Because islanders sent him away as cap dump, & Colorado gm is known for basically cheating every team,,/ winning every trade

Well the reason is Dumba’s upside. I agree that he’s overvalued and I don’t believe he is ever going to be better than what we’re seeing, but Dumba has a notably higher ceiling than Devon Toews. So that’s where the valuations are coming from. Dumba has largely been a shadow of his former self since his injury, but he was pacing to be pretty high end before that. I’m not saying I agree that he will yield a 1st +, but I understand why certain fans value him they way they do.

I agree with this. Wild fans need to adjust their expectations for a return on any Dumba trade. As its been reported multiple times Guerin has been open to moving him for the last couple seasons. Teams know the expansion situation and his real salary is 7+.

The Wild aren't getting an asset and a 1st for Dumba. Guerin needs to get what he can and move on.

This trade looks to take place AFTER the expansion draft so that point falls flat. And Minneosta doesn't have the same issue as NYI last year with leverage. It's not completely different but it's not the same whatsoever here either.

And Dumba just had a really good year too

So I see your point but I also see a lot of holes in it

And this is a matter of opinion but I really don't think Guerin is as shaky of a GM as Lou
