Description
Trade Reasonings
1. Butcher goes to a team that desperately needs a powerplay qb, which is what he does best
2. Tampa dumps Palat, who is a serviceable player and also gets a hometown kid who grew up a devils fan (and is a pretty good player himself), but we give up a good player in kuokkanen
3. Expansion draft
4. Don't really think this is enough but david poile is a senile old man and has a history of some brutal trades/contracts
5. Cap dump
6. Also a cap dump
7. I think hanifin could use a change of scenery and wood is probably a decent price point

Richard Panik (part of Mantha trade)
Sam Gagne (Athanasiou, Kuffner)
Kyle Brodziak (Mike Green)
Alex Biega (David Pope)

None were main part of trades, but they all were over 24 years old.

Are you saying that Yzerman called Washington and asked for Pánik? Or is it more truthful to say that Washington needed to clear cap to be able to do the deal and offered a 2nd for us to take Pánik?

Same with AA, did Steve call Holland and said we want Gagner, we'll give you AA for him? Or is it more truthful to say that Gagner came back as a cap dump for no charge in order for Edmonton to be able to make the deal? This covers Brodziak and Green too.

I'll give you the Biega deal, but that was a swap of two AHL players.

They were throw-ins or minor roster moves.
My point is that Yzerman has added veterans to his roster. Did it in Tampa, and has done it in Detroit.

I just don't think he says no to a 26-year because he is too old ....he says no because there is one-year left on contract.

Isn't that exactly what I said?
