I've never been a huge fan RNH. If you're putting a package together for Vanek and Green I'd rather go the "good prospects and picks" route but I'm not sure EDM would be willing to do that...it does take two to tango. I don't think Wings management is going to shop Green...but if they did (based on the ARI to NYR Yandle deal) he could probably fetch a 1st + a decent prospect...maybe even another piece all on his own. I'd rather keep our 2018 3rd, not take on a 6 mil dollar contract that will only have a year or two left on it once we're competitive again, and use the high pick we get to help draft our own 18/19 yr old center of the future (to hopefully pair with Larkin of course).

Just my opinion of course. In a vacuum, I think this would be decent enough return but I'm not sure it's what the wings should be going for with the state of the books.

The yotes ate 50% of Yandle's contract in order to get that trade and Yandle was 28 where Green is 31. I can see the similarities between the trade ideas, but there are also additional pieces that need to be factored in.

Very true. I didn't mention all the factors. However, I still believe the returns could be similar. Yandle hasn't scored double digit goals since 2012. Yes Green is older, but he is also much better. He may be 31 but you only have to pay him until he's 32/33. It's not like the team getting him would be signing up for the 6 mil cap hit when he's 35/36 and clearly declining. Clearly, retaining on the deal would help returns. All else being equal, Green should return more than Yandle because he is a higher quality player.

If Green and Vanek are bundled together I would rather see a top D in return. Not another long term forward. Never been a fan of RNH. I'd rather see a top D or high picks and prospects in return.
