Why not? Retain money at the deadline to increase the number of teams that can afford the remainder of his cap hit.

I think if Darling and Grubauer are gone Howard may be the best option on the market. Bishop will wait until after the draft to sign. MAF will be far more expensive. Miller is nothing more than a backup now. The market may dictate less than 2nd and 4th but I think he's more valuable than a 5th

You don't think they'd want him at the deadline? He'd probably be the best Dman on the rental market...Unless they're trading for him before the season his cap hit will be prorated

Do you think there's any chance (and would you even want to try?) of bribing Vegas to take a contract with more term like Helm?

Correct. You protect Green, Ouellet and Jensen, because they would never take Dekeyser on that putrid contract. If this is all that Holland can muster this offseason, just further proof that he needs to be fired ASAP.</div></div>
Fair point. I protected DDK because I think management will and I'd rather lose green than either XO or Jensen. I meant to write about Green in the summary but forgot.

18-19 season based off my previous post
Not bad. I know it's tough predicting these bridge deals/long term deals. So much depends on performance between now and then. This may be the summer they have to buy out Big E. I don't see it being summer 2017. By delaying to summer 2018 he comes off one year sooner. If they can afford to not do it then either, he may be moveable with only one year left on his deal.
I know management has said they want to be competitive next year but if I had full autonomy for the next 3 years I would sign the necessary parts of the future core, deal all other parts at trade deadlines, and wait for Kronwall, Ericsson, and Franzen to come off the books. Once they are gone, mantha Larkin AA and whomever they draft in the next several drafts and a timely free agent or two will be ready to compete for a cup.

My dream offseason
Like the trades and RFA signings but why buy out Ericsson? You obviously don't need the cap space...get him off the books sooner by just burying or scratching him. If we need space to resign people next year, buy him out then and save a year. Also, will be a heck of an offseason having to resign both goalies, Fowler, Sheahan (although he could be a deadline deal if we're in the cellar again), Larkin, Mantha, Bert, and Nosek.

Detroit Deadline
I think all those trades are a bit on the wishful side but boy oh boy would they be nice. The only difference I would make is not giving up our 2018 first rounder. It could be a pretty high pick if things keep going the way they have been. I'd keep the pick and deal with not getting Trouba.

I hope Jurco serves you guys well. He was never able to grab a lineup spot from Blashill. But he definitely has the talent and size to produce for you guys. I know he was frustrated with his usage here but he was always professional about it and I am rooting for him now.

Even if the total value is fair on both sides, you always have to factor in quality vs. quantity with NHL trades. 4 quarters isn't the same as 1 dollar bill when you're trading around assets. Plus you're offering non-cost controlled assets for two cost controlled assets. If I'm WPG, it's a hard no.

This is very bad for MTL. Kronwall is not a first pairing guy or a second pairing guy and probably not a third pairing guy. You would be doing us a humongous favor by taking those contracts.

SJ / DET Deadline Deal: Sharks get Tatar.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wingsfan33</b></div><div>I know I might be over killing it slightly but what about a Roy and timo Meier for Tatar and Ryan sproul? Im unsure of how people in the sharks organization think of timo so that's why I'm curious in all honesty</div></div>
Roy and Meier seem to be two of their top prospects if not actually their two best prospects (at least under contract). I don't think Tatar is enough to get that deal done with the pick included....and I would probably rather have a 2017 first than either Roy or Meier. But Tatar and sproul for those two would be close. Pretty fair imo.

Streak is Over - 2018 Dream Team - Feedback Wings Fans
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>alaina_brunone</b></div><div>Honestly, I like these as a dream team. We won't do all of them obviously, and Chicago won't trade DeBrincat ( its wishful thinking). The only real problem i have with this is we eliminated the cap hit which is good, but now we don't even meet floor requirements. Meaning we'd have to sign someone big time or bring someone in. We have lots of players to sign so I don't think it would be an issue. Also, I don't know anything about Bear. Is he suppose to be good?</div></div>
Bear is a very solid prospect B+/A- I would say. To reach the cap floor you just wouldn't use LTIR. Keeping Kronwall's and Franzen's cap hits on the book will help us get there. Plus, as I said above, idk why Ericsson is bought out. Keep his cap hit to reach the floor and get t off the books sooner.

Assuming you could get all these moves done (which you couldn't... but you said "dream team" so I will dream with you) why would you buy out Ericsson? You obviously don't need the cap space? Why not just eat the contract and get him off the books sooner? Just bury him.
