What you proposed is fair in terms of value imo, however Buffalo can't take another dman right now because they have to protect Risto, Kulikov (if he re-signs), and Mccabe for expansion while exposing Bogosian. So acquiring Ellis puts them at a risk of exposing a good defenseman and I doubt that they're looking to protecting 4 d for expansion. Also I don't understand why Nashville would add a dman right now and then trade one, this seems more of an off season move if anything where if Nashville loses Ellis to expansion then they sign stone.

Ellis was also just given an "A" on the jersey. I understand why everyone wants Ellis, but I doubt he's someone Poile is willing to move.
