Description
I feel that this is both an ideal and realistic roster for the Islanders coming into the 2021-2022 season. I feel that the RFA signings for Beauvillier, Pelech, and Sorokin are feasible, with Sorokin getting a bridge deal with his big-money contract coming following the end of this hypothetical deal. The trade with LA for Eberle is highly speculative, and is only based off of rumors that LA is interested in his services. Additionally, the Seattle deal is also speculative. However, Seattle would only have to absorb a $3 million dollar cap hit for one season, and in return they would receive a potential middle-6 forward in Bellows along with 2nd and 5th round picks. For the UFA signings, I included Cizikas who anchors the 4th line and is integral to the identity of the team, along with 2021 TDL acquisition Kyle Palmieri, and finally defenseman Alec Martinez. I believe I gave all the UFAs fair deals, with Cizikas taking a hometown discount but receiving a longer term deal. Palmieri showed that he is able to perform when it matters, despite his lack of scoring in the regular season games with the Isles. Playing on Barzy's right wing with Anders as a net front presence will create a formidable 1st line for the Isles. Alec Martinez quietly led the league in blocked shots last year, and proved he can even be an offensive spark plug if his team needs it. While there are a ton of "what-ifs" that come with the offseason, I think this hypothetical roster could be quite formidable, especially in a playoff setting. Please let me know what you all think.

Pass on the seattle deal. Id rather let them pick bellows and deal hickey for a 3rd (might also need that 5th but not more) plus komarov if we want at the deadline could be retained and moved for a pick. No need move that many assets for an unnecessary cap dump.

Makes sense. I mainly made the move to make room for the hypothetical FA signings, but I can definitely see it being too much on the Isles end.

Lou is definitely done dealing picks to dump salary. Plus Francis would laugh in his face considering they could just have Bellows without taking Leo’s contract
