I’m pretty sure Buffalo wouldn’t retain a dime even if you did give them what they were asking for instead of a pile of crap.

Ok fair on the retain. What is your counteroffer?

Buffalo still doesn’t need defenseman, especially not more left-handed ones. What they need are Young Forwards, especially the kind that can be added to the core. I understand a veteran player with some salary would have to come as well to make the cap work, but he should still be a useful player with some term. The bottom line is you have to pay a higher price than you’re probably prepared to, especially if you’re going to beat out all the other offers we can receive. I have always believed that when it comes to Jack Eichel if the trade doesn’t hurt then you’re not paying a high enough price.

Let me take a look at what the Rangers really have, and I’ll get back to you.

Your initial offer isn’t too bad, but Buffalo needs a top-flight prospect in return for Jack Eichel. The only one the Rangers have that would be of interest to Buffalo is Lafreniere. We are still not talking one for one either.

Something like: Lafreniere, Buchnevich/Chytil, Georgiev, 2021 1st might be enough the Sabres fans won’t be jumping off bridges. Lafreniere had a pretty underwhelming rookie season, but he is still the biggest piece in the trade coming back to Buffalo. The two RFA contracts really only save you money because you won’t have to figure out how to pay them and Eichel. If the trade has to happen after the draft then the first rounder in it obviously have to be next year.

There is a greater chance of Eichel being traded for my suggested package then 1 for 1 Lafreneire, let alonbe the package you suggest. No chance.

I still expect that Jack Eichel will be a Sabre in the fall because he has to come back and prove he’s healthy for someone to match the Sabres asking price. It’s nonsense expecting them to lower their asking price. You wouldn’t trade a young franchise player for less than he’s worth, neither should buffalo.
