This next season for NJ is irrelevant, its a growth year for the forwards. Roster construction is focused on 22-23 playoff break through. Any moves Fitzgerald makes will be long term focused. If you agree with that, Meier contract would have to come at a discount or not at all.

.... and SJ won't sell at a discount, so this is probably not a fit.

Though, everyone is right, these things are unpredictable. We are not the GMs.
