Description
Assuming the team starts the season on time, they should be in a playoff spot. Deadline moves ship out prospects who don't fit the system (Hishon/Elliott) and nabs Doan for Pickard, who the Avs can afford to move now with the expansion draft looming. Pickard becomes the heir to Smith, who the Yotes can expose in the expansion draft. Elliott is finally given a chance in the NHL after lighting up the AHL. Hishon also gets a legitimate NHL, top-6 chance to show off the skills that made him a 1st round pick. Avs overall depth is improved for the tough WC playoffs. Win-win for AZ & CO. Redmond is traded to make room for Siemens

      Get rid of their best goalie prospect for a 3rd line veteran with a $5.3 million cap hit? Really?

      I don't think the Avs have the depth in their prospect pool nor are they really at a point to contend that would justify moving good prospects for rental players. Especially with Iginla and Tanguay on their last legs.

      I would want to just let this current group continue to develop and see where the prospects fit when they're ready.
