Realistic Offseason Perhaps

Created by: capsfan26
Team: 2021-22 Washington Capitals

Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is the most basic, vanilla option I can think of when it comes to the Capitals offseason. They trades are to unload salary and the one signing from outside the roster is a bottom-pair defenseman (so it could be anyone that fits that mold). Definitely not exciting, but probably the most realistic option.

Additional Details:
The Capitals are in a salary cap crunch and other teams know it. The Capitals won't get much value in return for shedding multiple contracts. That said, the Capitals are trading top-four, steady defensemen so they won't have to pay another team to take the salaries.

It's probably a 4th straight first round exit then. I mean that's what I expect anyway with this old core now, without massive shakeups.

I completely agree. It is probably a playoff team and a first-round exit. I'm trying to reset by expectations to simply making the playoffs and Ovi scoring a lot of goals along the way. Any wins in the playoffs would be a bonus and a surprise. At least for the next three to four years. Then the fun of a complete rebuild (with a ton of cap space) becomes exciting.

VAN decline, they don't have the cap space.
