How does that make any sense for AZ? You trade your 2 best players for another teams junk (who all have terrible contracts) and all you get is a ninth? Judging by the Ladd trade a fair deal would have looked more like:

AZ gets : the three overpaid senior citizens and the 9th overall pick.
VAN gets: a 7th rounder.

You can't tell me all you could get for OEL and Garland was a 9th overall pick and 3 overpaid old bums. Come on.

I know. I just can't believe it. An absolute fleece job by Jimmy Benning. Huge win for VAN. a 9th pick in the biggest crapshoot of drafts is hardly worth close to what a 9th pick regularly is.

yea lol sorry... and i absolutely agree this will be the biggest w ever if garland continues to grow and oel is even like 60 percent of what he was 3 years ago

4 yrs to EP is about as wise as Jimmy B is mensa chairman...

ARZ collects a 2nd & 7th as well. The 3-Old Orca's are all UFA in a year and JB just took on 10s of Millions & Term he doesn't/won't have for EP/QH/Bo/BB/JT...

AZ is weaponizing the Cap as SEA should have been (always thought Ron Francis was a bit sleepy)...

no money is retained on deal , you also forgot to add your 2022 2nd round pick and 2023 7th round pick.

Arizona cleared $42 million in cap while taking on $12 million. And Garland for 9th overall is a massive win for the Coyotes.
