Lol you have no idea what you are talking about. Calgary was statistically a top 10 best team in the league after Sutter implemented his system.
How do you figure?
They were 1st in the NW div one year, 3rd, and 5th the other two years he coached. He only coached Calgary for 3 years. If you take all 7 years that he was with the team it would be, chronologically (NHL rank, Playoffs): 22nd (DNQ playoffs); 12th (SCF Loss); 7th (1st rnd exit); 13th (1st rnd exit); 14th (1st rnd exit); 10th (1st rnd exit); 15th (DNQ playoffs). That is on average 13-14th in the league with one cup final.
His record as the GM was worse: despite making 50 selections over seven drafts (59 if you include 2003). Sutter only got 3819 total man-games out of his draft classes (4880 if you include Phaneuf which was really Button's pick). Only one of his 1st round picks ever played more than 100 NHL games (Michael Backlund). Even if you include 2003, that means Sutter drafted 82GP/Draftee, while Jay Feaster in 3 short years has already drafted 2422 games out of his selections so far, which is an average 121 NHL man-games per prospect in less than half the time as GM...and his prospects are still playing, so that number will only continue to improve over Sutter. Sutter had three full drafts (2005, 2006, 2009) where none of his picks ever broke the 100 game mark.
His only good trade was for Mikka Kiprusoff, and the other trades he did make, (Cammi & Jokinen) he let walk and then brought back only to give away more assets. He's a terrible judge of talent. So statistically, yes, he is bad.
