From an Avs fan: Your first two trades make sense, but I don't like them. Not enough value from the B's. Subban is good, but we already have a decent prospect in Martin so I'd rather take Senyshyn/DeBrusk. Danault is a decent C, but one year doesn't make a player. I'm not sold on him. Also, why would you trade away our 1st before knowing what it'd turn into? If it's in the top 2, you're betting Hischier/Patrick don't turn into great players, which is far too risky for what the Avs need right now. So yeah, you've solved the D problem, but now you've got a huge logjam at D, zero forward depth, and four first round picks in a weak draft after the top 2 players. Hard pass.

You can never have enough goalie depth! You don't know if Martin will actually turn out to be an NHL goalie or not, just like we don't know if Subban will either. But, having both makes your chances of having one pan out better. As for wanting DeBrusk or Senyshyn, that would mean Boston is basically giving up 3 1st rounders and that isn't going to happen, especially for Landeskog. Now for the MTL, Danault may end up being a 3rd line C in the long run but with 4 firsts this draft you would be hoping to find that 2C. Obviously this team will have awful depth up front but it is a rebuild, you can't overhaul a lineup in 1 year! This draft may be weak but if you are looking for middle 6Fs and have 4 firsts, well you are in pretty decent shape! Build from the back and the Avs will be in great shape in 3-5 years.

True, you never know if Martin will pan out or not, but we need to focus on other areas first. I'd prioritize wing depth and D. And how is subbing in DeBrusk/Senyshyn for Subban any worse for the B's? Given that they're top-6 would be solidified for the next 3-5 years (especially with Landy's term, which everyone seems to forget about), they wouldn't miss either of those guys. Furthermore, the B's 1st this year would be a middling prospect at best. Pair that with the unproven play of Zboril, and I'm more than fine with asking for Zboril, DeBrusk/Senyshyn, and a 1st. Throw in Siemens if you have to. If it's Carlo/McAvoy, yeah, I'll probably ask for a 2nd/lower prospect. But Zboril? You can ask for more.

And if Landy is worth Zboril, Subban, and a 1st. Duchene better get you more than Juulsen, a 1st, and a potential 3C. That's a **** deal for the Avs. They'd be practically giving away their best player. Hate to be a broken record, but every Duchene convo with MTL starts and ends with Sergachev. I don't care about added picks, that's the starting price. Everyone says he's overrated, but you didn't hear that during the World Cup did you?

No, you can't overhaul a lineup in 1 year, but what you're proposing is to trade everything for D and some subpar prospects without knowing what our 1st would be this year. If it's Patrick or Hischier, you draft them, no matter what. The PHI trade, as much of a dream as that would be for the Flyers, is overkill for the Avs. Say we end up with #1 or #2, our C depth is set for the next decade. I'd rather have that and develop at D for the next year than sacrifice forward depth. And believe it or not, but we have some D prospects (Bigras/Meloche/Mironov). They may not be top 2 quality, but they'll be up soon enough.

Only trade I'd take is the B's, provided Subban was subbed for DeBrusk/Senyshyn.

As a Pens fan, I'd rather buy out Fleury at the end of the season than give up a 1st for an expensive goalie they don't need, a vet that failed miserably in his first stint with the team, and 2 4ths.

Penguins basically save 2.5 mil in cap space for 3 years while getting a very capable starter let alone backup. That cap space is probably much more important than a very late 1st rounder in this draft.

Maybe the Avs could get a little more in the Montreal and Bruins trade, but maybe that's the best offer they will get. Instead of late first rounders maybe the Avs would want guys who are more NHL ready like DeBrusk and McCarron. Like the Pitts trade. Might be the best for both teams come July 1st. (the goalie part)

An interesting take. I like your arguments for the trades. I do think that a trade with Boston starts with McAvoy and a 1st. I agree with ypur statment about goalie depth. But we cam draft another goalie this year. I dont want martin fighting for split starts in the ahl. He will be the starter there next year. Trading with Montreal starts with Mikhail Sergachyov, NOAH JUULSEN is a solid prospect, but IMO you don't trade Dutch for anything less than some who can start next year or an established top 4 guy. Trading the 1st rd pick is intersting. I think if we have the 1st or 2nd pick, hischer or Patrick will be a great addition. I would like the avs IF duchene and Landy is traded to get at least 1 pick in the 2018 1st Rd. If we could possibly get 2 top 10 pick next year that's huge, and will help us out way more. That draft class is way deeper. But Patrick and nico are the solid best picks of the draft.

If I were to tweak the trades then, based on the feedback, they would go like this...

Zboril/DeBrusk for Landy
Sergachev/Danault/1st Round Pick for Duchene
Konecny/Reinhart/2018 1st Round Pick/2017 2nd Round Pick for 2017 1st Overall Pick

Better?
