Doomsday 1

Created by: sporkknife
Team: 2021-22 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 27, 2021
Published: Jul. 27, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Assuming EP gets the offer sheet at $10.25 mil 5 years. Comp is two firsts, 2nd, and 3rd. We don't want that for Petey, so we're forced to do something dumb. Also assuming Dickenson gets an offer sheet to further force our hand. $3 mil for 4 years.

It REALLY sucks Schmidt didn't want to go to Winnipeg. Imagine if he could've moved for 2 2nds like Dillon did. Probably less due to cap hit but still. Signing Garland before the deadline tomorrow was huge.

We're not completely hooped, but we aren't getting what we want for Schmidt. We apparently are going all in this year so who cares about draft picks I guess.

First of all, I don’t think anyone is gonna try to Offersheet Dickinson and I rather keep the first instead of trade it away with Schmidt.

Why would you want Halak's UFA rights? the are useless with FA opening tomorrow

Why not? Makes matching the Pettersson deal even more difficult

Nobody wants to risk overpaying for a third line center. I just don’t think he’s worth anymore than 3 million.

Well, the offer sheet is for $3 million. He's seen as having a ton of upside

Even if this deal happened today you're talking about a roughly 12hr window lol. At this point players know what team is interested in them.

I mean maybe if they're concerned someone sweeps in last minute, but Halak isn't exactly a stud netminder. Good #2, but not a guy whose can be leaned on for a long period of time.

Put Ferland on LTIR and Schmidt can stay. If he is valued at about 2 2nds by WPG, then we can be patient. He isn't a dump that costs assets to move.

Ferland needs to start on LTI I believe. I don't really get how that works tbh. I hope you're right on Schmidt. I really do. But I don't think so anymore

Great day for Bruins fans, Holtby to be bought out and Schmidt traded to WPG. Finally we no longer have to see either guy trying to be dumped on Boston popcorn
