FLA traded for Montour and Bennett for a reason. They did their homework on these players before trading for them. There's a reason they did well in the small sample size with FLA. FLA looked at their body of work. It's not like Montour is a rookie. He has played 293 career games.
$3.5mm/year for a puck-moving, smooth-skating RD is a bargain. He's guaranteed to put up ~.37 points per game and can play a ton of minutes if necessary. He's not great defensively, but he's not horrible either. Just use him properly and give him a lot of OZ faceoffs.
