I 100% understand that signing Yandle sounds crazy. BUT he's still a dominant PP QB. This is a current position of need for the Blackhawks. I'm not suggesting he put the Hawks over the top, BUT let's truly analyze the players Stan acquired and not just what he paid for them.

Seth Jones - Elite #1 2-way Dman. This was the biggest issue the Hawks needed and while is was 100% a haul and too much trade value IMO...it happened and the Hawks D is 100% better than it was last year.

Flower - The Hawks got this guy for free. ACTUALLY shedding an ECHL contract means they can sign someone else...AND HE'S STILL PLAYING FOR THE FUEL! So he's not even changing teams.

Yandle - The New PP specialist. Adam Boqvist was the previous PP leader for Dman with 7 assists for the season. YES, Boqvist has room for growth. 17 vs 7 is more than a rounding error. We have the cap and getting a veteran to play with Toews/Kane/Jones/MAF...I think is enticing. In this situation he was sign on day 2 of the regular season.

Rumor is that the Hawks and Kampf are still working on a deal, BUT I'm going to pretend for this situation that they don't agree to terms. Luke Glendening does the same thing and probably a little better, BUT it'll cost you more too. 60.9% at the dot and the Wings leading PKer.

The Cap Situation is completely up in the air. Next year...Hawks technically have $39M. Lots of people to sign, but $39M is a lot...AND $21M for two very special players needs to be figured out the following year.

As a side note...That defense is more punishing that I thought Stan was capable of putting together. I do think he's still on the hot seat though.
