EDM needs to find a goalie to sign, going in with the same tandem again after last year is going to be a big mistake, you’re putting way to much hope into a 39 year old.

I sure hope not. That's a really stupid trade-off.

The rumoured swapping Koskinen+Bear with Kuemper+player could work for the Oilers. Arizona player could be Crouse or Larsson. Then go find a RHD rumoured Ceci..but I think Poolman could fit that Defensive role better and much cheaper.

Puljujarvi was coming off a holdout year in a 2nd tier league after having hip surgery. He was no sure thing to make it as a top-9 NHLer. Yamamoto has scored 79, 19-28-47 +26 in the past 1.5 seasons, and very little of that came from the powerplay. In fact, his 38 points at 5v5 have him ranked 50th among all forwards, tied with Malkin, Wheeler, Giroux, Palat, Fiala and Svechnikov, among others. There's no way to argue that's worth just $1.175M on a 2-year deal.

I'd rather keep Bear and send the 1st instead, like this: https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/495157

If another player comes back, that's fine too.

Only time will tell. But I don't see 2 million. Maybe it's just me. But BC the DRY line had incredible numbers for 27 games. Really bumped his numbers. He was pretty non existent most of last season. He struggled this year. Also trading bear isn't a bad move if he's filled with a bigger body who can defend. BC Bouchard will outperform him shortly. .. he doesn't have the size as Petry did. So I don't see it becoming another Petry deal of being a shutdown guy. Barrie smashes bear in every offensive category. Best way to defend.. is be in the offensive zone. LoL

What?? That's the most ignorant statement I've read all week. Here's some education for you:

Barrie's "offensive production" is a mirage. Check out McDavid's on-ice numbers (5v5) from this past season.

McDavid with Barrie: 4.09 GF/60 – 3.34 GA/60 = +0.75 GD/60
McDavid w/o Barrie: 4.10 GF/60 – 2.68 GA/60 = +1.42 GD/60

Barrie doesn’t improve McDavid’s output while dragging him down defensively.

McDavid with Bear: 4.38 GF/60 – 3.03 GA/60 = +1.35 GD/60
McDavid w/o Bear: 4.03 GF/60 – 3.08 GA/60 = +0.95 GD/60

McDavid does better with Bear offensively and is about the same defensively. Maybe that was just luck though – lets check xG to see.

McDavid with Barrie: 2.71 xGF/60 – 2.60 xGA/60 = +0.11 xGD/60
McDavid w/o Barrie: 3.38 xGF/60 – 1.83 xGA/60 = +1.55 xGD/60

McDavid with Bear: 4.12 xGF/60 – 1.67 xGA/60 = +2.45 xGD/60
McDavid w/o Bear: 2.71 xGF/60 – 2.43 xGA/60 = +0.28 xGD/60

Nope, luck actually ran against Bear this year - despite this McDavid still posted better offensive AND better defensive numbers with Bear than with Barrie.

Here's Nurse-Barrie compared to Nurse-Bear: NST link
Their GF% mirrors their O-zone faceoff% pretty well, and luck played a part (PDO), but the Nurse-Bear pairing had better underlying numbers in EVERY category despite Barrie having a 'career' year and Bear having a 'down' year. Oh, and keep in mind that the Nurse-Bear pairing played with McDavid 48.8% of the time while the Nurse-Barrie pairing played with McDavid 65.8% of the time.

Fact: signing Barrie and trading Bear makes this team worse. You can't argue for "adding a bigger body" and support the Barrie signing at the same time.

No, cause he was stapled to the bench lol. Tippett didn't trust him out in that situation.

What a f**king joke this organization is.

Lol. Stapled to the bench?! That was bears first shift in 2 periods !!!! Right on. Also explain to me how a guy with 33 career points is better offensively vs a guy in his first year out produced him in 56 games. You gotta stop living in the spreadsheet world . BC at that point it was only Barrie and Larsson taking shifts. He doesn't trust bear for obvious reasons !!.. BC he was making bad give aways !
