laugh laugh Engvall = 4th round pick, Dermott = 3rd round pick plus 2024 3rd round pick. Not even close for Bertuzzi let alone Detroit adding a 2022 5th round pick. The 3rd is 3 years away noway Yzerman accepts that you'd need to add your 2022 1st round pick on top of those meh pieces.

Must've discounted Bertuzzi too much, thinking is he missed almost all of last season and is unsigned. Maybe Engvall, Dermott, a 2nd, and a 3rd get it done for Bertuzzi with no pick?

Still not enough Engvall is a 4th line Center/Winger and Dermott a bottom pairing LD and a late 2nd and 3rd round pick holds 0 value for Detroit. Dubas has to include at least Robertson or no deal. Bertuzzi isn't on the market and to move him to a divisiona lfoe will cost you

Fair enough, you would know more about Bert's value as a Wings fan. If he was under contract I would fully agree, I just can't see giving up a first or top tier prospect for RFA rights. Appreciate all the feedback let me try again.

Yzerman already said that Bertuzzi will be extended long term, I assume he'll get a deal in the 4-5 year range at $4,500,000 per or slightly higher. Yzerman wont be trading Berts RFA rights he will be under long term control if he deals him at all.

Bertuzzi to Toronto started when Elliotte Friedman said Toronto was interested in Bertuzzi. Yzerman only said he'd listen to offers. In his post draft press conference he want to to sign Bertuzzi long term Detroit doesn't have to trade Bertuzzi and most likely won't trade him. So Detroit can ask whatever they want and if nobody is willing to meet Detroit's asking price then Bertuzzi stays in Detroit. In a situation like this I don't know why a bunch of Leafs fans think that it would be a fair trade. But to pull Bertuzzi out of Detroit its going to take a big overpay.
