Guentzel Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>JuanDamienNebraska</b></div><div>Even though this sends Guentzel within the division, which is less than ideal, I wouldn’t mind this deal.</div></div>
That was my one concern in this trade, tried to incorporate a slight division-rival tax but could totally see another low-tier pick (a 5th or so?) included to sweeten it.

Rentals don’t pull that value.
A cap dump, which we don’t really have, a b prospect and a 1st is the price. This is well above that</div></div>
I think this return is very similar to the return Calgary got for Lindholm and personally, I believe Guentzel is a better player. Additionally, what is stopping Carolina from resigning Guentzel and this is an intradivision trade meaning there would be a premium.

I did see Drury was playing 2C on DFO but figured it was more temporary. If it isn't, you're 100% right, Kotkaniemi makes a lot of sense in this trade, seems wasted in a fourth line role.
As a Leafs fan, I saw Bunting play a lot and one thing that is undeniable about his game is his ability to play well with elite players, so I would have to agree with a fit on Sid's line. Also... Bunting is from the SOO so you know Dubas would love to have him again haha.

Ideal Leafs TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>qc14</b></div><div>Dowd is a better player than Henrique at this point in his career and will come out cheaper</div></div>
I'm not sure if you are trolling but what is your rationale behind that?
Henrique has more points in 51 games this year (35) than Nic Dowd's career high, and both players are the same age. Henrique also has a higher faceoff percentage this season.
Dowd beats out Henrique in hits and blocked shots, in fewer games.
Willing to hear an argument that he is a marginally better defensive player but to say he is a better player overall than Henrique is borderline blasphemous.

My thinking was a 2026 first lines up almost exactly with the end of Ovechkin's career when the Caps have a better idea of their direction.
Agree a 2024 1st is more valuable and could sweeten it here though.

If that 1st was guaranteed to be a good one for Marty then maybe, but otherwise doubt it.</div></div>
Goodrow is a good comp here, have to take into consideration that a 3rd went to Tampa with Goodrow though. So I think it's similar value
Groodrow also had the same term left at a lower AAV.
Don't doubt the asking price for Dowd is a first right now, my thinking is that will come back down to earth as we get closer to deadline day.

Agree Caps are unlikely to move Fehervary, that's why it's titled ideal.
But a first for Dowd, in this economy?
The Ducks are asking for a 2nd and two 3rds for Henrique with retention this year and next.
My POV is Timmins + 1st for Fehervary and a 3rd + Niemala (who's worth a 2nd or 3rd) for Dowd

Fair, I made cap-compliant lines with Kerfoot below and added Sandin to the trade who is worse as an NHLer right now but some would argue has higher upside than Peeke. I see Gudbranson as Peeke's replacement as a DFD.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ajp_18</b></div><div>What would you suggest Columbus’s cap compliant lines would look like after this trade?</div></div>
One of the main reasons I see a fit here is that I cannot see Columbus' playing their second highest-paid defenseman, Gudbranson, on the 3rd pair. This trade opens a spot for him in the top 4 and I altered it to send Sandin back with Kerfoot. Full warning, I know nothing about the Jacket's depth guys, but here is what cap compliant lines could look like:

That's a trade of Columbus's 1RD (even if he's not a real 1RD, he's the one we've got who works with Werenski's style) for a cap dump to a team with no cap to spare. Thirty other teams available. Try Anaheim, Seattle, Buffalo, etc.</div></div>
Kerfoot is not a cap dump in any sense. He is a middle-six player who kills penalties and plays both wing and center. Connor Brown, a comparable player who doesn't play center, just fetched at 2nd round pick.

The plan was to have Kerfoot play center to improve CBJ's depth there. He's good defensively, versatile (plays wing and center well) and his contract is up at the same time as Peekes.

You're right about the Dach trade... altered it so that more is going out for him.
Have to disagree about Gibson though. Despite being a great goalie he has had less than stellar numbers in recent years. Nylander is 2 years younger so he fits the Ducks' timeline better and could create one of the NHL's most skilled lines with Zegras and Terry. Good hockey trade in my books.

Fair enough, you would know more about Bert's value as a Wings fan. If he was under contract I would fully agree, I just can't see giving up a first or top tier prospect for RFA rights. Appreciate all the feedback let me try again.

Must've discounted Bertuzzi too much, thinking is he missed almost all of last season and is unsigned. Maybe Engvall, Dermott, a 2nd, and a 3rd get it done for Bertuzzi with no pick?
