Where will Shatty Go?

Created by: JFo
Team: 2016-17 St. Louis Blues
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 23, 2017
Published: Feb. 23, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Desharnais move was made to free up cap space for Montreal to make add'l moves (going after Duchene). The Isles, starving for offence, pick up Bergy on an expiring contract and take a flyer on Yak to play with Strome or Tavares. Florida goes all in and Shatty will help their awful PP. Blues get their player/prospect/pick (the 1st comes as a bidding war with another team wanting Shatty at the deadline, most likely EDM)

I still think the ask for Shatty is unreasonable. IMO he should fetch two of the three parts, but not a top prospect, regular young D, and 1st RDP.

The way the Blues are playing, they'd be wise to keep Berglund unless the return is significant. De Haan would definitely be worth it, but I doubt the Isles would do it.

Good thoughts though; strengthening LD and getting returns on UFA rentals would be smart. But winning playoff games is just as important as building for the future at this point. It's a very weird situation: an inconsistent team that is finally playing consistent hockey, under a new coach, in a playoff spot but with no expectation to go beyond the first round, and with valuable future-UFAs. And all of this after losing the captain and a clutch playoff performer to FA last year... should be interesting.

The DeHaan situation is interesting because the Isles may lose him in expansion. I think we all know, after losing Fabbri for the year, that we don't have the nucleus to win the West. Chicago looks like worldbeaters right now, The WIld have been so good all yr, I just believe it is too soon to compete. I'd be happy to be wrong, but I don't think so. Come expansion time, I would definitely protect DeHaan over Gunnarson and Bouwmeester.

DeHann been one of those guys ive always liked and would love to see in the note but if you acquired him even with losing shatty youd almost have to deal Gudersson or someone else.
Dehann-Paranko dlineup would be very interesting
