Just a thought!!! Kane deal + Toronto trade.

Created by: Zach
Team: 2016-17 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 24, 2017
Published: Feb. 24, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Kane trade happens at the deadline, because IMO the Sabres have a very slim chance of making the playoffs, so the decide to sell.

Toronto trade happens in the offseason, after Toronto has their run in the playoffs.

Anaheim gets a top 6 forward, a good top 9 forward, and unloads a cap dump in Stoner while at the same time upgrading the 3rd pairing with Kulikov.
Trades
1.
2.
BUF
  1. van Riemsdyk, James
  2. 2017 2nd round pick (OTT)
Additional Details:
The Leafs need to get rid of JVR's contact to make room for Nylander, Marner, and Matthews future contracts, but the Leafs still want to get something of value, and I think the package that I have offered (top tier backup goaltender, B level RW prospect, and most likely a top 10 pick) is more than fair enough value.

This trade will make the Leafs have 2 1st round picks, 2 2nd round picks, and 2 3rd round picks.
TOR
  1. Fasching, Hudson
  2. Nilsson, Anders
  3. 2017 1st round pick (BUF)
  4. 2017 3rd round pick (BUF)
  5. 2017 3rd round pick (WSH)
Additional Details:
The 2017 1st round pick is top 5 protected, if the pick is top 5, the Leafs get our 2018 1st round pick.
3.
BUF
  1. 2017 7th round pick (CBJ)

As much as id like to see that happen as a leafs fan i doubt it will. maybe around draft time. leafs are in the playoff mix.

Yeah, I had mentioned that in the description, did you like the value?

I know, but if we can get Lindholm I'd pull the trigger and if we could land Jvr that would be amazing.

I'm having a tough time disputing the value, and it would be nice to have the extra year to make a decision on another big deal in JVR (vs having to pay Kane next season). Nilsson will be a UFA so I don't see him being a part of an offseason trade but otherwise this seems reasonable.

Since Nilsson is a UFA, the trade is really about 10th overall pick (maybe) and Fasching for JVR. While that might be fair value, they don't play LW for the next 1.5 years. I would think the Leafs would like immediate help in a JVR deal. And the premise that the Leafs need cap space ,isn't true.

Do not trade Kane Core right now O Reilly Kane Eichel Lehner and Risto . Franson Gorges and Gionta for picks and prospects . trade Reinhart with Kulikov for top three D man . sign top six forward over summer . grow from within organization . power forwards with warts still invalueable

Terrible Toronto trade, makes 0 sense for Buffalo. Why would we trade a 1st for a UFA's rights, we are only helping Toronto......

I doubt the Ducks would take that deal draft or otherwise

Gorges for a 7th? Ok?
