opening night lineup as things stand

Description
from o'connor to simon i can see those 3 battling it out for the last LW spot on the opening night roster. burke did say he expects to see poulin, legare and hallander all in the AHL before the NHL this season so they aren't here for that reason. there's no possible way hextall/burke think going into this season with this lineup is the way to go (obviously they know more than us). They are reportedly trying to move petty so maybe they get a RHD or a forward out of it. i see POJ starting here next year in place of petty. or they clear enough space to sign someone like tatar

Yeah but if Poulin, Legare, or Hallander impress in camp, they will most likely get the nod. I’d honestly rather they move Matheson than petty. But Petty will be easier to move cause of the contract situations. And can get more in return. Would love to move one of them though and get Lyubushkin, Crouse, and Fischer from AZ

Just curious why you would put Rust on the 3rd, you know that is never going to happen in Pitt again right? He may slide down to 2nd with Geno out, just to spread the talent around a little more, but he is basically stapled to Sid and Jake at this point.

im 110% on board with moving matheson instead of petty. they seem to have their sight set on dealing petty which is unfortunate. i see your point about the 3 young guys but they'd likely get the call up mid year rather at the start imo. hallander especially because he hasn't player in NA yet

jake and sid are attached until sid retires. i figure rust is moveable in the lineup because hes pretty adaptable. kapanen showed some good stuff with geno. i figured if they pair rust with carter it'd spread the scoring out. zucker has only been productive in pitt beside sid, i know sullivan loves that first line but maybe its time to shake things up at least temporarily to see how things work out

I am not saying that I disagree with you, but that Sully is still the coach...
